Best Practices After Launching Your Branded Apps

How to promote your branded mobile apps and help members discover and download them after launch.

Once your branded apps are live, there are a few things you can do to help members discover them and encourage adoption. These practices will help you make your apps more visible across your community, courses, and emails.

1. Make Your Apps Easy to Find

Add Download Links to Your Community Homepage

Add your iOS and Android download links to your community's announcement card so members see them when they log in.

Guide: How to Activate and Configure the Community Home Page

Add External Links to Your Community Navigation

Add separate external links for iOS and Android to the left-hand side of your community. This keeps the download links accessible whenever members visit.

Feature or Pin a Post With Download Links

Publish a post with both app download links, then feature it in a channel or pin it to the top of your announcement channel.

2. Include App Links in Your Courses

Add your app download links to your courses and course materials. For example, include them in a welcome module so students know they can access your community through the mobile app as soon as they start a course.

3. Announce Your Apps to Members

Email Your Existing Members

Send your current members a short announcement with links to download the iOS and Android apps.

Guide: How to Schedule and Send Emails/Posts

Add Download Links to Your Welcome Email

Include both app download links in your welcome email so new members know about the apps from the start.

Include Download Links in Your Onboarding Sequence

If you use an onboarding email sequence, include the download links in relevant emails to remind new members to install the apps as they get started.

4. Know How GroupApp Promotes App Downloads

GroupApp already encourages members to download your apps through a few built-in prompts:

  • Email notifications: Members receive links to both mobile apps in your email notifications.

  • Download banners: Members see prompts to download the apps when they access your community through a web browser on mobile or desktop.

You don't need to use every practice listed here. Start with two or three that fit your community and onboarding process.

5. Keep Your Apps Up to Date

GroupApp keeps your branded apps updated with the latest features while maintaining App Store requirements. These routine updates are handled for you, so you don't need to take action on your end.
