Subscription proration ensures members are only charged for what they actually use when switching plans.
When a member upgrades or downgrades their subscription, the unused portion of their current plan is applied as credit toward the new plan. This credit is calculated by Stripe and automatically reflected in the final price directly on the checkout page.
This creates a fair and seamless experience when members move between plans, with the adjusted amount shown before they complete the payment.
Proration applies when a member changes their subscription plan.
You’ll see the adjusted price during checkout under “Total amount billed today.” This is the final amount after the proration credit has been applied. There is no separate line item showing the proration calculation. The final price already includes it.
Proration applies to subscriptions only
It does not apply to one-time purchases like courses, events, or library resources
It also does not apply to one-time subscription payments
The credit is calculated by Stripe and fetched into GroupApp
Credit is consumed daily based on how much of the current plan has been used
The longer a member has used their current plan, the less remaining credit is applied
Proration is applied only when switching plans (upgrades or downgrades)
The final price shown at checkout already includes the proration adjustment
Proration does not apply directly to add-ons, but it can affect the total if a subscription is part of the purchase
